Carnival Memphis is a great Bluff City tradition with a proud 80-year history. The coronation by The Grand Krewe of Osiris of their 2012 Queen, Anne Buttarazzi, was an occasion for great celebration in a beautiful East Memphis setting. REG partnered with The Stovall Collection to design and produce an event that was unique and memorable.
With costumed gondoliers on "gondolas" (aka parking shuttles), Venetian merchants milling through the crowd, and even a performance artist, the party’s Venetian flavor was apparent from the start, when cocktails were served from an outdoor bar some 150 yards from the main event. There was even a caricaturist to give guests a unique souvenir of the party.
REG designed the stagecraft for the masqued King’s entrance to claim his Queen. A procession with bannermen, musicians, and themed characters led the Queen’s red convertible and the entire party from the cocktail area to the main party tents, where guests were greeted by a “Mona Lisa” on an easel – with the face of the iconic model replaced with that of the Queen.
A catering tent was festooned with Osiris Banners from seven decades, Venetian-style chandeliers, and comfortable seating. The main tent housed both the coronation ceremony and the entertainment, with the stage featuring a backdrop an enormous panorama of a Venetian canal, creating the illusion of standing in front of a picture window in that city.
Stovall Collection décor and REG production design created a lovely environment and a welcoming, logistics-friendly space. Guests had room to enjoy themselves, and support staff was able to move behind the scenes to keep the party running smoothly. Stage lighting made everyone glow, and professional attention to audio details ensured that every speech given was heard clearly by everyone in attendance.
Entertainment was provided by Memphis Soul Stew, an REG band that garnered rave reviews from attendees. Matching the right music to an event and its audience is an REG specialty.
From a spark of an idea in our client’s imagination, REG and Stovall Collection created a guest experience that resonated from the arrival of the invitation until the guests left after a wonderful evening. We can do the same with your idea for a party!
The first part of the party included drinks at an outdoor bar.
A costumed LED artist added atmosphere. (REG offers a full range of Cirque-style motion performers, including fire artists.)

With the house awash in an Osirian red glow, guests moved between the main tent and the catering tent, which was bedecked with Osiris banners dating to the 1930's.
