Technically, they are a "high-energy rockabilly trio" -- great Sun hits, jump blues, Texas swing, all that fun rockabilly stuff. But oh man, that doesn't begin to describe The Dempseys! How do you do justice to three guys who burn more calories in one hour on stage than most 10-piece acts do in a month? How do you define a band that has set a new standard of showmanship in Memphis, the most musical city on earth?
With The Dempseys, words can't suffice. It's truly a "must-see" band, because mere words can't explain their enormous entertainment value. They swap instruments. They manhandle the big upright bass. They mess with the audience. They'll dive into the nearest swimming pool. They will surprise, delight, confound, and entertain you like nothing you've ever seen. Oh, yeah -- they'll also make you get up and dance!
In 2006, The Dempseys made international headlines when they performed at a luncheon for Pres. George W. Bush, First Lady Laura Bush, and Japan's Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi in Memphis. Renowed as Japan's #1 Elvis fan, Koizumi sang "I Want You, I Need You, I Love You" with the band and had the President and other VIPs cheering wildly.
